Local Attractions
Many of our guests come determined to 'do' the New Forest and its surrounding attractions only to find that, once they're here, they'd rather relax and do nothing very much at all. Having said that, there are some great things to see and do in the local area.
Stately homes worth visiting include Broadlands, the former home of Louis Mountbatten, and Beaulieu, home to the National Motor Museum and the Beaulieu International Autojumble. New Park Manor is one of the finest hotels near, Winchester, Christchurch, Salisbury and the Solent, both are only a short drive away. The Solent is renowned for its sailing – day chartering, with or without a skipper, can be arranged in advance - and if you time your visit well, you might see one of the local regattas such as the famous Cowes Week, the Round the Island Race. Also, don’t forget the fantastic Southampton Boat Show in September.
New Park Manor Hotel and Equestrian Centre is actively involved in the Brockenhurst Park Horse Trials, the major equestrian event in the New Forest.
Garden lovers will find it hard not to pay homage at Exbury Gardens, renowned for its azaleas and Pensthorpe Nature Reserve with glorious gardens and exotic birds. Those interested in ecclesiastical architecture will almost certainly want to make the effort to visit Salisbury or Winchester Cathedrals. Closer to home, the excellent beach at Bournemouth is just half an hour's drive. You can also enjoy a day trip to the Isle of Wight (there are regular ferries from Lymington) and visit Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle.
New Park Manor is also perfectly situated just a 20 minute car drive away from Paultons Park, a fantastic family theme park on the edge of the New Forest and the all new Isle of Wight Festival is just a short drive away.
